A man who has been charged with criminal damage after his home was damaged by a video he uploaded to YouTube appears to have used old wood hangers.
According to Victoria Police, 51-year-old Simon Woods was arrested last week after video footage showed him using wooden hanger frames to hang his wall.
Mr Woods was released on bail pending further enquiries.
In the video, Mr Woods can be seen pulling the frame off the wall.
He can be heard yelling at the camera “you can’t do this, you can’t put this in, it’s not safe”.
“This is a dangerous thing to do,” he said in the video.
The video sparked a public outcry on social media and a police investigation into Mr Woods’ actions has been launched.
The incident took place on February 10, but was only captured on video, a spokeswoman said.
“The video was only taken by Mr Woods and is not being shown to the public at the moment,” she said.
Ms Williams said the wall was made of a “standard wood panel”.
“It’s the same type of wood used in hangers for door locks,” she added.
“It was made by a contractor who’s owned the property for 20 years.”
A police spokeswoman said the footage had been forwarded to the Victorian Police for a criminal investigation.
